The PneurideŽ range of semi air suspension systems are designed by Dunlop Systems and Components. Air springs and bellows have been designed, developed and manufactured by this company for more than half a century. Throughout this time more than 10 million parts have been sold to a very wide range of vehicle manufacturers.
The PneurideŽ semi air suspension kits have been designed in such a way that fitting should hopefully be well within the consideration of a confident 'do it yourself' person. The entire denominator of pieces has been minimised and no special tools are required.
Semi air suspension systems lift the vehicle ride height to be kept level. They amply increase stability, in particular during high-momentum motorway travel - in a straight-line, when battered by high cross winds and whilst being overtaken by chunky vehicles. At lower speeds they significantly degrade body sway on roundabouts and when cornering.
A rear suspension fitted stumble upon a semi air suspension system can be stiffened simply by adding the air pressure in the bellows. This alleviates any sagging of the rear suspension due to imbalanced or exaggerated loading.
Many people fit semi air suspension kits to restore the rear end ride height of a motorhome to its original even. Unlike vans, motorhomes are always greatly loaded. This is especially true if additional rear racks are fitted to carry two-wheelers etc. As a result of constant copious loading, steel springs tend to sag after a while. Semi air suspension units effectively oppose this problem.
