Semi air suspension systems lift the vehicle ride height to be kept level. They greatly increase stability, in particular Amidst high-speed motorway travel - in a straight-line, even when buffeted by strong cross winds and whilst being overtaken by heavy vehicles. At lower speeds they very much lower motorhome swaying on round abouts and when cornering.
A rear suspension equipped advance a semi air suspension system can be stiffened simply by increasing the air pressure in the bellows. This supports any sagging of the rear suspension due to imbalanced or excessive loading.
Many people fit semi air suspension systems to restore the rear ride height of a motorhome to its original level. Dissimilarly vans, motorhomes are always fully laden. The is especially correct if additional rear racks are fitted to hold bikes etc. As a result of constant full loading, steel springs tend to sag after a while. Semi air suspension units entirely counter this afliction.
