The PneurideŽ class of semi air suspension systems are made by Dunlop Systems and Components. Air cushion and bellows have been designed, developed and constructed by this company for more than half a century. During this time more than 10 million parts have been sent to a variable extensive range of truck and bus fabricators.
The PneurideŽ semi air suspension kits have been designed in such a way that fitting should be well within the capacity of a confident 'do it yourself' person. The total number of parts has been minimised and no special tools are needed.
Semi air suspension systems enable the automobile ride height to be kept level. They greatly increase stability, in particular Throughout high-speed motorway travel - in a straight-line, while buffeted by strong cross winds and whilst being overtaken by beefy vehicles. At lower speeds Pneuride air assistance somewhat reduce campervan roll on roundabouts and even when cornering.
A rear suspension fitted with a semi air suspension system can be stiffened simply by increasing the air pressure in the bellows. This alleviates any sagging of the back end suspension due to imbalanced or excessive loading.
Many people fit semi air suspension units to restore the rear ride height of a motorhome to its original level. Unlike vans, motorhomes are always fully laden. This is especially true if additional rear racks are rigged to carry bikes etc. As a result of constant full loading, steel spring tend to sag after a while. Semi air suspension units advantageously counter this afliction.
