AL-KO Air Assist Upgrade 2002-2006 Dunlop have finally released their new range of kits to fit some AL-KO chassis vehicles. Unfortunately AL-KO do not give any precise method of identifying which version of suspension was used with what chassis, so careful visual identification is needed. If in doubt, please send us a photo of your suspension arm area with the wheel removed. A basic outline of kits available as follows; 1994-2002 use kit > MLAL94STA or > MLAL94LOW ideally we need a photo of the plates used by AL-KO to secure the suspension arm to the chassis. 2002-2006 use > MLAL02 2007-onwards > MLAL07 We hope to post some pictures to help with identification when we receive some. Do remember your vehicle can be registered one year, but the chassis was actually built several years earlier. The fitting instructions can be found by clicking on the following links (loads in a fresh page) MLAL94STA & MLAL94LOW MLAL02 MLAL07 Whilst your here, even with or without air suspension, your AL-KO system still needs regular attention, as its very important you keep it greased. Apparently there are two grease nipples on the AL-KO axle one each side and you must have the vehicles rear axle completely off the ground so it should be on axle stands, its important you add grease to these on a regular basis. For specific times and quantities, seek advice from AL-KO. Failure to grease your axle usually results in the swinging arms on the ends of the axle seizing. They can be made good at a cost. The flexability of the suspension (swinging arms) is made possible with torsion bars. These do get weak (hence the saggy rear end) but they can be replaced. If by chance you can pass on any other advise for AL-KO suspensions, we'll be pleased to hear from you.
